The judge in the trial of a Pennsylvania dentist who is accused of sexually assaulting 17 patients while they were under anesthesia said he has received what he considers a threatening letter, according to a story in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
The letter claimed to be from more than 500 former dental and postgraduate students who had attended dental school with the accused dentist, Robert Boyda Jr., at Northwestern University and that he had a history of the same behavior for which he is now on trial, according to the paper.
Among other things, the former students stated in the letter that if the dentist is found anything other than guilty, their issue will be with Common Pleas Judge Anthony Mariani, not the defendant, the paper reported.
The judge has turned the letter over to investigators, he told the Post-Gazette.
