The North Carolina Health and Wellness Trust Fund has granted more than $1.9 million to seven organizations to improve dental care and promote oral health, according to the Triangle Business Journal.
The trust fund began its Oral Health Initiative to increase access to treatment and preventative services for low-income, high-need individuals and to train dentists and other oral health professionals to serve those people, the story noted.
In 2006, about 32% of North Carolinians reported that they did not see a dentist that year, the paper reported.
