Mark Anderson, a former California dentist, was sentenced Friday to six years in state prison, according to news reports. He was also ordered to register as a sex offender.
During his trial earlier this year, Anderson claimed he was trying to help female patients suffering from temporomandibular disorder (TMD) by massaging their chests. But in March, a jury found him guilty of 11 counts of felony sexual battery and one misdemeanor sexual battery.
Anderson, who had his dental license suspended when he was arrested in 2007, continues to claim that he is innocent, telling the judge at his sentencing hearing that he was sorry the women had "misunderstood his motives."
