Dear DrBicuspid Member,
These are exciting times at DrBicuspid.com. Not only is our membership growing, but we are adding new features all the time -- all designed to bring you more news and information to enhance your daily practice.
Today we're pleased to announce yet another exciting addition to the DrBicuspid family: ProBusiness Online (PBO), the leading provider of online continuing education (CE) for the dental community. Founded in 2002, PBO is a CERP-certified CE provider whose eLearning and commerce solutions have been key components of the ADA's online CE efforts.
This acquisition not only enables DrBicuspid.com to begin offering online CERP-certified CE courses on a variety of subjects, but it dramatically increases our membership. Please join us in welcoming PBO and its members!
In the news
It's also been an interesting week in dental news. Eight-year-old David Alejandro DeVore achieved immortality of a sort, thanks to a video clip of his sedation-induced confusion following oral surgery that his dad posted on YouTube. Not only have 7 million people viewed it so far, but major newspapers and magazines have picked up the story as well. Why all the fuss? Read more.
In other news, the economic slowdown continues to affect dentists and dental product vendors alike, with some companies more hard-hit than others as dentists delay purchases of big-ticket items. Meanwhile, a lawsuit in Washington brought against a dental practice that used cow bone in a periodontal bone graft has been dismissed by the state Supreme Court.
Over in our Imaging Community, the debate continues over how many times a phosphor plate can be used before the image quality degrades too much, and Dr. Allan Farman says that when it comes to dental imaging, many Luddites still exist!
Finally, in clinical news, the endo versus implant battle is heating up. After publishing a study that shows root-canal-treated teeth last longer, endodontists are now claiming that these teeth also chew better than implants. Not surprisingly, implant experts beg to differ. Read more.
