Alaska is fighting the water fluoridation trend. Juneau recently repealed a fluoridation ordinance, and Fairbanks is in the process of doing the same, according to a Newsminer.com story.
In March, Fairbanks turned down an effort to eliminate fluoride from the water supply.
"Some borough residents are now joining in on the city debate because their former water supplier, College Utilities, merged with Golden Heart Utilities, and they are now receiving fluoridated water," reported Newsminer.com.
An initiative application signed by 10 sponsors has been submitted to the city clerk in an attempt to place the issue on the October ballot.
"This will be a city initiative; however, many borough residents will be watching closely because they purchase city water, or drink city water if they come to town to work or eat," Ronald Lee Warner II, who initiated the application, told Newsminer.com.
