A Minnesota dentist who rescued a woman from a burning car has received a Citizen Award of Valor, according to a story published on May 26 in ADA News.
The public safety department in Mankato bestowed the award on Dr. Drew Neumann, the owner of Advanced Dental in Mankato. The award is given to citizens who engage in exemplary and heroic acts under adverse conditions and without hesitation or regard for personal safety.
After Neumann noticed flames shooting out from the bottom of a vehicle, he flagged down Lois Martinson, who did not know her car was on fire. Neumann pulled Martinson from the passenger side of her vehicle after she burned her legs attempting to exit from the driver's side. By the time firefighters arrived, her vehicle was completely engulfed in flames, according to ADA News.
