The California Dental Association (CDA) Foundation and the CDA are seeking dental professionals to volunteer for a CDA Cares free clinic in Pomono, CA, from November 21-23.
The organizations are looking for dentists, specialists -- including oral surgeons -- hygienists, assistants, physicians, dental lab technicians, nurses, pharmacists, translators, dental students, and other members of the community willing to donate their time.
The main goal of the CDA Cares program is to relieve pain and eliminate infection. Cleanings, fillings, extractions, oral health education, and assistance in finding a dental home will be offered. Anterior root canals, stayplates, and dentures will be offered on a limited basis.
CDA Cares will provide dental services at no charge to patients who experience barriers to care, including the uninsured, underinsured, unemployed, and others in need. Patients will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis.
Community volunteers also are needed to escort patients and translate, dispense medication, set up and tear down the clinic, register patients and volunteers, conduct exit interviews, enter data, provide oral health education, and more.
The event will be held at the Pomona Fairplex. The clinic set up will take place on Thursday, November 20, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. when no patients will be seen. On Friday, November 21, the clinic will run from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturday, November 22, from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. The teardown will take place on Sunday, November 23, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
