Dear DrBicuspid Member,
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released new data this week that included approximately 117,200 reports of injuries associated with dental implants. The vast majority of these injuries were due to problems with osseointegration.
Associate Editor Theresa Pablos spent this week pouring through hundreds of thousands lines of previously undisclosed data from the FDA. It's the kind of reporting you won't find at any other dental news site.
How do you like to communicate with your patients? Text? Phone? Email? If you'd rather text patients than talk with them, you might be a millennial. Dental students are far more likely to prefer texting peers and patients, according to research presented at the recent International Association for Dental Research meeting in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Has your practice received a phone call from a U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agent demanding payment? Has your energy company called requesting money and information? To raise awareness of these scams, the California Dental Association put together a guide to help your practice handle these situations.
Two issues many practices deal with are an overabundance of both supplies and staff overtime. Practice management consultant Teresa Duncan has been asked how to deal with these two issues often, and she shares some practical advice to help your practice grow.
Next week is the July 4 holiday. We'll be publishing new content on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, but we're taking Thursday and Friday (July 4 and 5) off. Have a good weekend, and see you on Monday.
