Davis on scams; Gregory on infection control; immunization refusal and fluoride refusal

In a new three-part series, Dr. Michael W. Davis details some of the ways dentists and dental offices are vulnerable to scams. This first part will introduce the series and discuss embezzlement and scams that are played on vulnerable employee dentists.

In recent months, several infection control breaches have been reported in dental healthcare settings, which have affected patients and the dental community. In this column, Karen Gregory, RN, emphasizes the importance of safety and infection control, and offers some practical but far-reaching solutions. Read her column here.

Caregivers who refuse to have their children immunized are also likely to refuse fluoride treatments for them, citing concerns about the safety of topical fluoride, according to a new study published in the American Journal of Public Health. Read more here.
