Dear DrBicuspid Member,

Hello from the Rocky Mountain Dental Convention in downtown Denver! The 2024 dental meeting season is off to a fast start, and I’ve enjoyed being part of things here in the Mile High City. Next week, I head to Boston for the Yankee Dental Congress (YDC) and will be speaking on Friday afternoon. If you’re heading to YDC, I hope to see you there!

While I’ve been podcasting and meeting dentists and team members here in Denver, my awesome editorial team has been putting together some great articles for you to check out. That list includes this story about a brain injury that reportedly happened during a recent dental procedure. It’s a reminder for all of us about always ensuring the highest level of care for patients.

On the business side of things, I enjoyed this peek behind the curtain of four trends in mergers and acquisitions that could impact dental practice sales in 2024. I’m always thankful for experts who share their knowledge with our readers, especially when it comes to the financial side of things.

Obviously, plenty of mergers and acquisitions happen with DSOs, and we got a sneak peek at what several DSOs are expecting in terms of their patient volume in this article. How are things looking for patient flow in your practice to start the new year?

While we’re on the subject of business, this article by Estela Vargas, CRDH, about informed consent drew plenty of eyeballs this week. Also, Bruce Bryen touched on the potential value of your practice to DSOs in this article.

Finally, I loved reading about microrobots and how they may become an ally in our fight against periodontal disease. This isn’t science fiction but rather another piece of technology that may become part of your everyday routine in the future.

As always, thanks for reading DrBicuspid. I hope our paths cross at a dental meeting soon.
