All 102 students of the second-year class at the Marquette School of Dentistry are in quarantine after possible exposure to the novel coronavirus during Halloween weekend.
The school took precautionary steps to quarantine the class from on-campus and clinic activities due to off-campus exposure. The students are now self-isolating and undergoing testing for the novel coronavirus, according to Marquette spokesperson Chris Stolarski.
"Upon learning of the exposure, the dental school moved swiftly to take this preemptive measure," Stolarski told DrBicuspid.com.
Positive test rates for the novel coronavirus are rising at the Milwaukee university, according to Marquette's coronavirus dashboard. The testing positivity rate hit 35% as of November 5, the most recent date on the tracker.
The university is aware of the increasing number of cases on campus and in the surrounding neighborhood, Stolarski noted. Marquette is also monitoring community spread and conducting "aggressive contact tracing efforts in coordination with the City of Milwaukee Health Department."
