The Delta Dental of Arkansas Foundation has awarded $118,000 to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) to create an interprofessional oral health and dental education curriculum.
The grant will be used to incorporate oral health into the university's existing interprofessional education curriculum, which students from all UAMS schools, including medicine, pharmacy, and nursing, can take.
Students will learn about oral health through lectures, training modules, simulations, and screening events. The goal is to better integrate medical and dental care and to put a focus on preventative oral healthcare.
