The Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) is calling for nominations to fill vacancies on its review committees and for site visitor volunteers.
CODA is currently trying to fill three immediate vacancies on the review committees:
- Dental assisting practitioner -- CODA is looking for a credentialed dental assistant who has current practice experience and formal education. The term runs through October 2018.
- Higher education administrator -- The administrator should not oversee any dental or dental related program, but rather bring a general higher education administration perspective. Nominees must not be associated with CODA, including through a family relationship or through trade association, licensing/regulatory agency, or membership organizations. The term runs through October 2018.
- Public member -- CODA is looking for an individual who does not have any formal or informal ties to dentistry and can bring the consumer perspective to the commission. The term runs through October 2020.
Review committee members are responsible for reviewing policy details, including site visit reports, applications for accreditation, and progress reports. Members are required to commit to 10 to 20 days per year and will serve as consultants. The commission will place members on specific review committees.
Nominations for all three positions are being accepted until September 1, 2016. The commission is particularly interested in potential members who bring a diverse perspective, including varied underrepresented groups, geographic locations, and educational philosophies.
CODA is also looking for site visitor volunteers from various dental and nondental disciplines, including finance, oral medicine, and dental public health. All site visitors are required to attend a two-day training workshop in Chicago.
Nominations for site visitor volunteers are due by December 1, 2016. The volunteers are appointed for one-year terms, renewable for up to six years.
