The California Dental Association (CDA) Foundation has awarded two grants to help increase oral healthcare in underserved communities.
In exchange for a commitment to practice in an underserved community, Sonia Relingo, DDS, was awarded the foundation's Student Loan Repayment Grant, and Osvaldo Amezcua, DDS, was awarded the foundation's Webb Family Grant and will receive $5,000.
Dr. Relingo will receive up to $105,000 over three years toward repayment of student loans. She currently works at the United Health Center in Mendota, CA, where she provides full-time dental care, according to the foundation.
"My entire desire for dentistry has been molded by the fact that I would love to provide community dentistry and care for the underserved, and a grant like this will allow me to work with that population," stated Dr. Relingo in a press release.
