The Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine has received a $3 million bequest from the estate of Oreste Zanni, DDS, an alumnus of the school.
The bequest will support the dental school's periodontics department in research and teaching. In recognition of Dr. Zanni's generosity, the periodontal clinic at the Health Education Campus will bear his name, the school stated.
"We are grateful for Dr. Zanni's vision and commitment to both patients and students and for his alma mater," stated Case Western Reserve President Barbara R. Snyder in a press release. "His gift will allow us to continue to advance periodontal research and teaching."
Dr. Zanni also left a $3 million bequest to the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Zanni, a former clinical associate professor and clinic director in the department of periodontology at the Goldman school, died in 2013 at age 66.
