A Michigan couple has been charged with embezzling almost $1 million from a Midland dentist.
Stephanie Kaye Cieslinski and Kenneth John Cieslinski were arraigned on the charges July 2 after a yearlong FBI investigation, according to a story in the Midland Daily News.
Stephanie Cieslinski, who was employed by Michael Smith, DDS, for several years, faces two counts each of embezzlement of more than $100,000 and embezzlement of $50,000 to $100,000. Kenneth Cieslinski faces two counts of embezzlement of $1,000 to $20,000 for allegedly helping deposit the money in various bank accounts.
Embezzlement of between $1,000 and $20,000 is punishable by up to five years in prison, while embezzlement of $100,000 or more is punishable by up to 20 years in prison, according to the Daily News.
