IADR offers fellowship, travel awards

The International Association for Dental Research (IADR) is taking applications from postdoctoral investigators for a sponsored fellowship in public dental health. In addition, the IADR Microbiology/Immunology Group is offering two travel awards of $1,500 each to attract early career researchers into the field of oral microbiology and immunology.

Regarding the fellowship, the individual will spend up to six months at a research facility outside his or her institution to study aspects of public dental health relevant to his or her country. Up to $15,000 for travel, accommodation, and subsistence will be available, according to the IADR.

Candidates must hold a degree in dentistry or a scientific discipline, be a member of the IADR, and be actively engaged in research in public dental health. The deadline is October 14, 2011.

For the travel awards, applicants must present an abstract at the IADR general session and exhibition in Rio de Janeiro, being held June 20 to 23, 2012. Pre- or postdoctoral students who have obtained their PhD after January 1, 2009, are eligible if they meet the following criteria:

  • Have an accepted abstract in microbiology/immunology
  • Are listed as the presenting author
  • Have a member of the IADR Microbiology/Immunology Group as their mentor

The deadline for submitting an abstract for the general session is January 13, 2012, according to the IADR.
