The Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) School of Dentistry plans to build a new facility at the OHSU Schnitzer Campus, due to more than $27 million recently received in donations.
Eugene and Bonnie Skourtes have pledged $10 million, health insurance company ODS has committed $5 million, and dental equipment provider A-dec has pledged to provide equipment valued at $4.35 million, according to OHSU.
Together with more than $8 million in additional commitments from donors across the region, the gifts launch a $43 million fundraising initiative by the school.
The new facility will replace the school's 1950s-era building. Dr. Joe Robertson, president of OHSU, is recommending that OHSU's board of directors approve construction of the new dental school facility at its upcoming meeting on June 30.
