Carestream to release updated EMR-Elite

Carestream Dental will unveil a "revamped" version of its EMR-Elite Module for WinOMS CS practice management software early next year, according to the company's December 2010 OMS Newsletter.

The redesign of EMR-Elite's SOAP, operative, and progress notes will give users the flexibility they need to accommodate differences between patients' cases and doctors' note-taking preferences, explained Matt Ackerman, product line manager for oral surgery at Carestream. The company has added a rich text editor so that users can format font, font size, and layout to organize notes according to their preferences and make them more readable.

Carestream has also added a full library of customizable templates that cover a variety of common situations, including third molar extractions, implant placements, and pathology reports, and feature merge field functionality. Also new to EMR-Elite are text "snippets." Drawing on a database of often-used phrases, the snippets are template specific so users don't have to scroll through lists that do not apply to the case at hand; instead, they can select the desired snippet(s) from a drag-down menu.
