The dentist and the dental team must be ready to discuss the merits and details of a particular treatment. Remember, patients have other things they would like to spend their money on -- vacations, cars, renovating their house, you name it.

Be completely prepared. A properly organized case presentation means that all parts of the treatment plan must be documented and scripted. Having everything prepared beforehand will allow the dentist to present the case with confidence. A good presentation should demonstrate value and create motivation for the patient to accept treatment. It is also important that the doctor not have to deal with interruptions while presenting to a patient.

Don't "wing it." If the dentist is unprepared, lacks confidence, and does not present the treatment plan in such a way that the patient trusts that the dentist has the patient's best interests at heart, that patient will not accept treatment.
