North Carolina lawmakers reportedly have decided to drop a proposal to cut $10 million from the state's Medicaid dental benefits for adults, according to a story in the Winston-Salem Journal.
The cuts, part of Gov. Bev Perdue's proposed 2010 budget, would have limited Medicaid reimbursement to emergency dental services.
Brad Deen, a spokesman for the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, told the Journal that about 31% of North Carolinians age 21 and older who are eligible for Medicaid benefits received at least one dental service in 2008.
