The U.S. market for dental operatory equipment and practice management software will reach $1.9 billion by 2016, according to a new global report series by iData Research.
In 2009, the two largest segments in the combined dental operatory equipment and practice management software market were dental furniture/cabinetry and imaging systems, representing 38.5% and 38.7%, respectively, of the total market, according to the report.
"Dental practices are acquiring imaging systems and upgrading their practice management software in an effort to become chartless (complete digital patient charting)," said Kamran Zamanian, CEO of iData, in a press release. "In 2009, almost 40% of dental offices had chartless capabilities, and this is expected to more than double by 2016. In addition, the number of offices fully utilizing this capability is expected to increase dramatically."
