MacSpeech adds dental terminology

MacSpeech has introduced MacSpeech Scribe Medical, an add-on component to MacSpeech Dictate Medical, that transcribes audio files including dental terminology. MacSpeech Dictate brings to Apple computers Dragon NaturallySpeaking software, a program developed for Microsoft Windows that automatically transcribes what the user says into a microphone attached to the computer. MacSpeech Dictate Medical is a version of this program that recognizes medical and dental terminology.

MacSpeech Scribe converts existing audio files into text. With this add-on component, users of MacSpeech Dictate Medical can convert files in .wav, .aif, .aiff, .m4v, mp4, or .m4a formats with up to 99% accuracy, with a single button click, according to MacSpeech.

The program only works on Apple computers using the Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard operating system. The MacSpeech Scribe Medical add-on component is available to currently registered MacSpeech Dictate Medical customers for $99, by download only from the MacSpeech Web site.

MacSpeech Dictate Medical fully understands and supports vocabularies for more than 54 medical and dental disciplines and specialties, including general and pediatric dentistry.

Beyond dictation, MacSpeech Dictate Medical lets users perform basic navigation of their Mac and control it with their voice to launch applications, open new windows, execute menu commands, and more.
