The University of Central Florida (UCF) will open a new student dental clinic that will offer primary dental care, some restorative care, and whitening services to students, according to a news story in the Orlando Business Journal.
The clinic may eventually provide clinical experience for students at other local schools training to become dental hygienists or dental assistants, the Journal reports.
The 1,600-sq-ft clinic is tentatively slated to open October 1 with seven employees, including one dentist.
"The clinic is expected to serve up to 3,000 students the first nine months of operation," according to the story. "Care also may be provided to UCF faculty and staff, if clinic openings are available."
Preferred provider organization (PPO) -- but not health maintenance organization (HMO) -- dental insurance plans will be accepted.
