IT services provider Advanced Automation has released research results showing that dentists can meet or exceed HIPAA security guidelines, improve patient services, and save money by switching to online backups for their vital patient information.
By examining the information from customers that have already switched to automated online backups, Advanced Automation determined that dental practices reduced the possibility of large government fines, eliminated wasted labor performing and troubleshooting backups, and minimized storage expenses related to patient records, the company said in a press release.
Offices saw immediate reductions in costs associated with both establishing and maintaining backup technology; the study showed a net average savings of $2,550 annually on storage media and labor costs alone.
"Prior to shifting clients to the secure online backup service, over 20% of the support calls our help desk received were related to backup verification and troubleshooting. Those support calls have been eliminated for online backup users. The staff can rest assured that their data is safe in the event of a disaster, and the possibility of violating HIPAA backup security guidelines is eliminated," said John Moore, founder and CEO of Advanced Automation, in the release. "With HIPAA fines increased to $250,000, it makes sense to find a provider now. You'll save immediately on labor and storage while gaining peace of mind."
To encourage practices to improve their disaster recovery plans, for a limited time, Advanced Automation is providing 100 GB of online storage for the price of 50 GGB, according to the press release.
