A highlight of the upcoming 2017 Chicago Dental Society Midwinter Meeting will be the vast exhibit hall, where hundreds of companies will showcase their products. Here we bring you a preview of new and recently introduced products to look for while you're walking through the exhibit hall in McCormick Place in Chicago.

Convergent debuts laser software update

Convergent Dental will feature the latest upgrade for the company's laser software technology at the Midwinter Meeting.

The Solea 3.1.1 includes new spot sizes and an automatic ramp-up function that facilitates the onset of analgesia. This upgrade allows for increased patient comfort and makes the laser even less technique-sensitive for users, according to the company.

Fotona introduces new laser handpiece

Fotona is introducing a new handpiece for the company's NightLase therapy system at the Chicago meeting.

The PS04 is a tipless, noncontact erbium-doped yttrium aluminium garnet (Er:YAG) handpiece for the LightWalker AT/ATS system. The PS04 generates a pixel structure within the laser spot.

NightLase therapy is a noninvasive, patient-friendly laser treatment for increasing the quality of a patient's sleep, according to the company.

Acteon debuts panoramic imaging system

Acteon North America is introducing a new dental panoramic imaging system at the Chicago Midwinter Meeting.

The X-Mind Trium offers 75-µm voxel resolution for applications such as implant planning and endodontic diagnoses. The unit has a range of fields-of-view, including 110 x 80 mm, 80 x 80 mm, 60 x 60 mm, and 40 x 40 mm, which allows the practitioner to focus on a region of interest. The unit can be upgraded from 2D panoramic x-ray to 3D capability, and a cephalometric arm also can be added.

Carestream Dental launches new 3D extraoral system

Carestream Dental is debuting the CS 8100SC 3D extraoral imaging system in Chicago.

The system combines panoramic and cephalometric imaging, cone-beam CT, and additional 3D applications, such as impression/model scanning and optional prosthetic-driven implant planning. The imaging system is 72.5-inches wide and includes a scanning cephalometric module, according to the company. Practitioners can use the system's low-dose mode to obtain images at the same or lower radiation dose as a standard panoramic exam.

Pac-Dent debuts x-ray collimator

Pac-Dent is introducing a new x-ray collimator.

The Focus XC Universal x-ray collimator works with digital sensors, film, and phosphorus plates and can reduce x-ray dose by 60% to 79%, according to the company. The collimator helps to eliminate retakes, improves the quality of radiographs, and increases the practice productivity, Pac-Dent noted.

Practice management

MacPractice releases new software

MacPractice is featuring its new practice management and clinical software at the Midwinter Meeting.

The MacPractice DDS for Sierra software is for offices who prefer to use Apple technology. The software has an all-in-one design philosophy to house and protect a practice's patient identity and health information, according to the company. The software can help a practice avoid ransomware, malware, and other potential threats to information stored in a cloud system.
