Comments made by President Barack Obama during an April 5 White House press briefing describing medical research as "a non-negotiable aspect" of the budget deliberations taking place in Congress received enthusiastic support from the American Association for Dental Research (AADR), the organization announced.
In response to a reporter's question on the status of the budget negotiations, the president said that his administration is meeting the House leadership half-way.
"But what we're not willing to do is go out and say that ... we're going to cut medical research. We're not going to cut those things that are absolutely vital to the American economy," he stated.
