Hoping to distract patients during procedures, a dentist in Munich, Germany, is dressing herself and her 10 female assistants in traditional German dirndl outfits after noticing men ogling waitresses in the dresses at an Oktoberfest, according to a story on Metro.co.uk.
Dr. Marie-Catherine Klarkowski said the most important thing is taking away patients' fear, adding that the sight of cleavages gets patients "narcotized" and distracted from the pain quickly.
It is unclear if the patients feel less pain, but the number of patients going to the Relax & Smile practice in Munich has risen by a third since the change, according to the story.
Dr. Klarkowski said she knows colleagues who have decorated their practices with Mickey Mouse and Star Trek to entertain patients.
Her assistants say it's fun to wear the $688 costumes.
