A Louisiana medical clinic is expanding to offer dental services, according to a story by the Advocate.
The St. Gabriel Health Clinic in St. Gabriel, LA, will double from 1,500 sq ft to 3,000 sq ft, with a new wing for administration and dentistry taking over the current administrative space, the Advocate reported.
One reason for the change at the federally qualified health center is to bring a wide range of health services under one roof so that related illnesses such as diabetes and periodontitis can be treated in concert.
By treating more patients, the clinic will also benefit from economies of scale, according to the story. However, it will offer only limited dental services, which its director described in the report as "clean it, fill it, or pull it."
The clinic is also preparing to lease a satellite site nearby.
