Straumann has issued a call for submissions for the André Schroeder Research Prize, an annual award worth 20,000 Swiss francs ($20,000 U.S.) in cash.
First awarded in 1992, the prize is presented in honor of the late Professor Schroeder, who pioneered dental implantology and whose life's work contributed greatly to modern dentistry. It serves to promote new scientific findings in dental implantology, oral tissue regeneration, and related fields.
Scientists and researchers who have new scientific findings in one of these fields are invited to apply for the 2010 prize. The deadline for manuscript submission is November 30, 2009.
The prize is adjudicated by the independent Research Committee of the International Team for Implantology and is sponsored by Straumann. It will be awarded during the 2010 ITI World Symposium in Geneva.
Previous winners include Dieter Weingart (1992), Franz Sutter (1993), Daniel Buser (1995), David Cochran (1996), Joachim Hermann (1997), Siegfried Heckmann (1998), Alexandra Behneke (2000), Leif Persson (2001), Lisa Mayfield (2002), Yuelian Liu (2003), Michael Hänggi (2004), Xiaolong Zhu (2005), Karthikeyan Subramani (2006), and Frank Schwarz (2007).
