The CAO Group has filed a complaint against Procter & Gamble (P&G) claiming patent infringement over P&G's Crest teeth whitening strips.
The complaint was filed on January 25 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. CAO asserts that P&G's products infringe on its whitening strip technology. CAO's Sheer White whitening strips have a new thickener for peroxide, flexible substrate materials, and a gelatinous formulation.
The formula provides a gelatin layer on the strip with adhesive properties to attach to the teeth when the strip touches the tooth surface, allowing consumers to wear the teeth whitening strips without annoyance, according to CAO.
"Our improved whitening strip technology is loved by consumers and is also adopted by marketers in the U.S. market," stated Densen Cao, PhD, the CEO and founder of CAO, in a press release. "We will fiercely defend our intellectual properties against infringers."
The patents in question are CAO U.S. patents Nos. 10,603,259 and 10,646,419. Over the years, CAO and P&G have filed patent infringement claims against each other.
