Winners of Volpe prize announced

The winners of the 2015 International Periodontal Research Competition Volpe Prize have been announced.

Rana Tarzemany of the University of British Columbia was awarded first place (a $3,500 award) for her research on human gingival wound healing and fibroblasts, while Nova Southeastern University's Nina Cunningham, DMD, earned second place for her study on the clinical implications of palatal graft procedures. The University of Toronto's Guy Aboodi, DMD, took third place for his research on tissue loss and damage in periodontitis.

The competition recognizes the year's best clinical research in periodontology by dental students and is sponsored by Colgate-Palmolive and the Ohio State University College of Dentistry Division of Periodontology.
