Textbook series a guide to success for hygienists

Christine Hovliaras, RDH, MBA, CDE, a hygiene professional, has released a series of textbooks intended to educate dental hygiene students and dental hygiene professionals about career opportunities in the industry.

The three-volume textbook series and faculty guide, Savvy Success: Achieving Professional Excellence and Career Satisfaction in the Dental Hygiene Profession, covers career avenues, clinical competencies, ethical responsibility, and career success in the profession. Hovliaras, who has 28 years of experience as a hygiene professional, also describes ways in which she has helped her patients and improved her oral care practices.

More than 45 other hygienists make contributions to the series as well.

In the series, Hovliaras describes what inspired her to go into the profession and what qualities and practices are required to be successful in the dental hygiene field. In addition, professionals and opinion leaders from the industry contributed chapters on clinical competencies, issues, and trends in the dental hygiene profession.

The three-volume textbook series is currently available at Amazon, Author House, and Barnes and Noble. The faculty guide will be launched in March.
