The California Dental Association (CDA) has approved a $25,000 donation to the Powerhouse Science Center as a founding partner of the project.
The 30,000-sq-ft facility will consist of a four-story, interactive, hands-on science center, including space, robotics, environmental and traveling exhibits, science labs, archeological digs, and wildlife shows.
CDA provided the financial contribution to help increase public oral health education. The donation will be used to support the development of the science center, including a section dedicated to oral health.
A dental traveling exhibit, proposed for the first floor of the center and slated to open in 2013, will provide opportunities to improve the oral health literacy of children, especially the underserved population, according to the CDA. The Exploring Ourselves exhibit will also showcase some of the advances in dentistry over the years, as well as promote the various careers available in dentistry.
