Crest Oral-B has launched the 2012 Pros in the Profession awards program, designed to recognize registered dental hygienists "who go above and beyond the call of duty every day," according to the company.
Throughout the year, Crest Oral-B will reward six deserving professionals, as nominated by their peers, the company noted. Winners will receive $1,000, a plaque, recognition at a special award cocktail reception at RDH Under One Roof 2012 conference in Las Vegas, tribute in dental trade media news announcements, and an exclusive trip to Procter & Gamble headquarters.
From July 2011 to April 2012, nominations can be submitted via www.prosintheprofession.com or at the Crest Oral-B booth at dental conventions. Nominations should be submitted by dentists, fellow hygienists, dental assistants, and professional and collegiate colleagues.
To be considered for the program, nominees must meet the following criteria:
- Be a registered dental hygienist with two or more years of practice experience after graduation from dental hygiene school.
- Be a registered dental hygienist with community service involvement.
- General volunteer/nonoral health-specific examples are welcome, but oral health-related volunteer experience is preferred.
- Be a registered dental hygienist with examples of work that go above and beyond the call of duty.
"The awards are a testament to the contributions of dental hygienists across the country, and bring much-needed visibility to our profession," stated Sharon Stull, BSDH, one of five award winners during last year's inaugural program, in a press release. "Having been chosen as one of the 'Pros in the Profession,' I am thrilled that Crest Oral-B understands that dental hygienists are an integral part of the dental healthcare team and the positive health outcomes for each patient we treat."
