Philips introduced the Philips Sonicare AirFloss at the International Dental Show last week in Cologne, Germany. It uses a rapid burst of air and water droplets to fill up the interproximal area and force biofilm out, making flossing easier while maximizing the removal of interdental plaque, according to the company.
Philips Sonicare AirFloss features an ergonomic handle and a slim, angled nozzle, which was designed for easier access to all areas of the mouth, including the back teeth. It takes one minute to do a complete cleaning of the mouth, and only 1 teaspoon of water is enough for two full cleaning procedures, according to the company.
"We understand the struggle that many dental practitioners experience in getting patients to regularly clean between their teeth," said Erik Hollander, marketing director at Philips consumer lifestyle. "Sonicare AirFloss was developed to improve oral health with an easy-to-use device that you and your patients will love to use daily."
