U.K. firm to market chewable toothpaste tablets

Lush, a U.K. company that manufactures and markets handmade bath and body products, will introduce chewable toothpaste tablets in 2011, according to a story in the New Zealand Herald.

The tablets are intended to help reduce the amount of toothpaste tubes thrown into landfills every year, the Herald noted.

The tablets will come in various flavors and will foam in a similar manner to traditional toothpaste, according to the company. They are expected to be available in the company's 680 stores worldwide by March. Lush also sells its products online at its website and via phone orders.

All Lush products are vegetarian and free of preservatives.
