Cadbury has introduced a new gum that contains Recaldent, a formula of amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP) that has been shown to protect and rebuild tooth enamel.
Trident Xtra Care is the latest in Cabury's line of sugarless gums. The company also owns Trident Splash and Stride. Cadbury has exclusive rights to use Recaldent in gum in the U.S., and Trident is the only brand that contains the ingredient.
"Cadbury has an extensive history of developing innovations in chewing gums, and Trident Xtra Care represents a significant advance in the chewing gum category," said Doris Tancredi, vice president regulatory and emerging science, Cadbury Americas in a press release. "Recaldent is a powerful ingredient that actually replenishes calcium and phosphate to remineralize and protect teeth by filling in the tiny crevices where cavities can form. The result is that teeth become stronger and less vulnerable to future damage."
Trident Xtra Care is available in peppermint and cool mint. Single packs cost $1.49 and multipacks cost $3.29.
