Dental search engine launches in U.K.

Mouth.org, a new search engine for dental clinics, has launched in the U.K.

The free site enables users to search for dental and cosmetic practices in their area, and also includes clinic opening times and staff profiles.

The ad-free site works on mobile and tablet devices without installing a separate app or changing settings. It has built-in categorization of clinics, including dentists with the National Health Service (NHS), private practice, and emergency clinics, and includes more than 10,000 listings. Search results rank clinics according to average user ratings and proximity.

The Mouth.org site was the brainchild of founder Frank Vitetta after he broke a tooth during a work lunch and had to find an emergency dentist in an unfamiliar area.

The site is currently in beta and available only in the U.K., but Vitetta plans to expand to the U.S. and Canada in the first quarter of 2014.
