PBHS has launched a mobile application for dental practice websites specifically designed for mobile users.
The app is in response to demand for a separate version of practice sites that are optimized for a mobile browser, according to the company.
Statistics indicate that most dental practices now see about 20% of their traffic from mobile devices, according to PBHS President Jay Levine. The company estimates that by 2016, mobile traffic will be equal to that from desktop computers.
The PBHS mobile app is an online website application that runs on any smartphone. When patients visit the practice website on their smartphone, they are automatically redirected to the mobile site app. The practice's information can then be viewed without forcing the patient to zoom in and out or scroll incessantly.
The mobile version of the site also enables visitors to contact the practice by phone or email. If a patient wants driving directions, the mobile site will open their phone's native maps application to give them directions from their current location using GPS.
