An Illinois woman who is a member and fellow of the American Association of Dental Office Managers (AADOM) has received the third annual Green Leader award.
The award was developed to educate dental office managers about easy-to-implement strategies that reduce their environmental footprint and is made possible by a grant from the Henry Schein Cares Foundation.
This year's recipient, Elizabeth Markiewicz from the office of Anthony Markiewicz, DDS, in Mundelein, IL, was recognized for her leadership in inspiring her team to reduce waste and pollution, conserve energy, water and money, and incorporate a wellness-based and high-tech approach in their dental practice. She helped her office achieve a gold award in Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design (LEED) for Commercial Interiors.
"It isn't the work of just one person to receive this award; we have a wonderful team of eight employees that help with all of our going green efforts," Markiewicz said. "We hope to inspire other offices to make green choices."
Markiewicz received the award at the 2014 AADOM conference in San Diego.
