Do's and don'ts for implementing technology

Workflow technology is becoming more prominent and common. The key to offsetting the money investment and increased overhead is to increase practice production sufficiently. When the right strategies and planning are in place, the practice performs at a higher level, production increases, and practice becomes easier and more enjoyable.

Practice Success Do

Develop a technology purchase plan. You need to have a plan so that you don't overinvest. Practices that spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on new technologies all at once will struggle to achieve profit goals because of the increase in expenses. The key is to develop a technology purchase timeline. Some things make sense to buy together because they integrate well, and others can wait to be added to the practice.

Practice Success Dont

Don't forget to educate patients about new technologies. Communication with the patient base is essential. Levin Group recommends a simple monthly email with a few paragraphs to educate patients on new developments in the practice, including the addition of the new technology that patients can now experience. This creates a higher-level image and leading-edge brand for the practice.
