Do's and don'ts for updating your systems

The reality about dental practice success is actually quite simple. The quality of your management systems will determine your level of production and success. As changes take place internally (e.g., adding new technology) and externally (e.g., insurance reimbursements and competition), your systems need to be updated and improved.

Practice Success Do

Update your systems every three years. Three years is the right time frame for reevaluating each system and determining if that system needs certain improvements or needs to be replaced overall.

Practice Success Dont

Don't forget to get your team involved. Have the team members who work with each system take a hard look at each step and determine what should be kept, eliminated, or changed. Team input is important because your staff members use the systems daily, which provides them with a unique understanding of how they work. Once you have this input, final decisions can be made.
