Dental employee accused of stealing half a million from employer

A former dental office employee in South Carolina, who is accused of stealing more than $600,000 in less than two years from her employer, was arrested on November 18, according to multiple news stories published on November 21.

Ashanti Keyanna Kinney, 39, was charged with breach of trust with fraudulent intent, with a value of $10,000 or more. Between January 2024 and August 2025, Kinney allegedly took $612,990 from Affordable Dentures and Implants in Myrtle Beach, SC, while working at the practice, according to the stories.

Kinney is accused of entering patient accounts, marking that their dental services were paid, and keeping the cash payments, according to the stories.

Police gathered bank records, audit documents, and scheduled paperwork after the practice notified authorities in August 2025.

A criminal complaint is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
