What to know about the upcoming Dental Infection Control Boot Camp

The Association for Dental Safety (ADS), formerly known as the Organization for Safety, Asepsis, and Prevention, will once again host its annual Dental Infection Control Boot Camp. This is a one-of-a-kind, comprehensive, fast-paced course based on U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines and recommendations, U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations, and infection prevention and safety best practices.

The course covers the basics of dental infection prevention and control, and participants can connect with internationally recognized speakers, exhibitors, and sponsors. The boot camp is appropriate for those who are in the early stages of their career, making a career shift, or who want a refresher.

The boot camp will take place in Atlanta at the Crowne Plaza Atlanta Perimeter at Ravinia from February 3-6, 2025. Sessions will be recorded and made available to all registered participants starting February 24. Those who are unable to join in Atlanta can register for the on-demand-only option and receive access to session recordings for 60 days starting February 24.

ADS will also bring back its Antibiotic Stewardship Summit precourse event on February 2.

"We encourage anyone in the oral healthcare community to join us at the 2025 ADS Boot Camp," ADS Executive Director Michelle Lee said. "Embracing a culture of safety is a team effort. Everyone plays a role in keeping themselves, their team members, and their patients safe. Participating in the ADS Boot Camp will ensure you and your team understand relevant infection control laws, regulations, guidelines, standards, and best practices to protect yourselves and provide safe care to every patient."

According to the ADS, after completing the boot camp, participants will be able to:

  • Describe disease transmission and principles of infection prevention and control in a variety of oral health care settings
  • Identify relevant infection control laws, regulations, guidelines, standards, and best practices
  • Utilize tools to assist with quality assurance measures (e.g., direct observation and feedback)

Participation in the 2025 boot camp counts toward the education requirements for the following two dental infection prevention and control certifications:
