Dear Buyer's Guide Update Member,
Lasers have been used in dentistry since the early 1990s for a variety of soft- and hard-tissue applications. Lasers offer many advantages for certain dental procedures, including less anesthesia, less bleeding, less suturing, and less postoperative pain.
But widespread adoption of dental lasers has been hampered in large part by the cost of the equipment, which historically has been upwards of tens of thousands of dollars.
In recent years, however, a number of compact, low-cost laser systems developed specifically for the dental team have entered the market, prompting more dental practitioners to invest in this technology.
