Biolase reported net revenues of $13.1 million for the third quarter of 2011 (end- September 30), a 110% increase over revenues of $6.2 million in the same quarter for 2010.
These increases were primarily driven by Biolase's exit from an exclusive distribution arrangement in August 2010 with Henry Schein, the company noted.
Net loss for the third quarter of 2011 totaled $953,000, compared with a net loss of $2.7 million for the same quarter a year ago.
Net revenue for the first nine months of 2011 was $35.7 million, up 116% from $16.5 million in the prior-year period.
Sales of Biolase's Waterlase systems accounted for 63% and 57% of total revenues during the third quarter and nine-month period, respectively. Sales of the company's diode laser systems accounted for 17% and 21% of total revenues during the third quarter and nine-month period, respectively.
