NYU adds 12-month hygiene degree for international dentists

The New York University (NYU) College of Dentistry has announced a new program that will enable internationally trained dentists to earn dental hygiene degrees in 12 months.

Students who complete the program will earn an Associate of Applied Science degree in dental hygiene.

The accelerated program was created in response to a growing interest from internationally trained dentists looking for viable careers in the U.S. Many dentists with international degrees want to work in oral health in the country but can't devote two or three more years to school. With students' prior education in mind, the program ensures that they complete all necessary coursework, labs, and clinical experience, according to NYU.

Potential students can apply on the school's dental hygiene program website. Classes begin in spring 2020.
