Toppen Dental recently launched its UltraSafe ultrafiltration platform that aims to keep dental unit water lines regulation-compliant and protect patients and staff from disease-causing microorganisms.
UltraSafe incorporates Toppen's energized fiber matrix technology that gives an electroadhesive charge to a specially adapted nanofiber filtration structure. The company said the charged nanofibers form a barrier membrane that removes microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi from dental office water.
Toppen said contaminated dental unit water lines have been identified as the cause of significant outbreaks resulting in severe infections requiring hospitalization or surgery and even death.
