EPA head Scott Pruitt resigns

U.S. President Donald Trump has accepted the resignation of U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) administrator Scott Pruitt, according to multiple published reports.

Pruitt faced ethics reviews and public criticism during his tenure, including questions about spending and travel practices. Among his accomplishments since his appointment in February 2017 was granting Flint, MI, $100 million for water infrastructure upgrades, according to the EPA.

Pruitt will be replaced on an acting basis by Andrew Wheeler, deputy administrator of the agency.
